Weird Science chills its bison to keep them from shrinking
The moon appears especially big and bright during this once-a-year cosmic event as the full moon is at its closest to the Earth in its elliptical orbit. The perigee side of its orbit is about 31,000 miles closer than the opposite, or apogee, side. The bright light of the full moon also hides all but the brightest meteors of the Eta Aquarid meteor shower, the remnant debris trail of Halley's Comet. In reality, however, it's only tricking part of the brain . If you ask someone to make a motion based on the number of dots on the screen, their actions will reflect the actual number of dots on the screen, whether they're connected or not. Of course, there's only so much that your unconscious brain can do. Over the last five years, the number of cell-phone-induced pedestrian injuries that put people in the hospital has doubled. In 2010, there were more cell-phone-injured walkers than drivers. The World Trade Center attacks are still killing people. Albeit very indirectly. The attacks were obviously stressful for people in the New York area, and military members and their families quickly shared in the stress. But a new study suggests that they proved too much for a population spread throughout the US: former smokers.
